bluesmsymbol What is Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministry Is Christ Caring for People Through People. It is one-on-one Christian Caring Ministry in which trained and supervised lay persons, called Stephen Ministers, walk beside adults who are facing difficult times such as divorce, loss of a loved one, illness, and life struggles of all types.

A Stephen Minister is a member of our congregation who listens, cares, encourages, and provides emotional and spiritual support to people in our congregation and community who are experiencing challenges in life. A Stephen Minister IS NOT a counselor or therapist, problem solver, or casual visitor.

Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry. The identity of those who receive care, and what takes place in the caring relationship remains private.

What Does the Stephen Ministry Logo Symbolize?

The Stephen Series logo symbolizes that we all are broken people and that it is only through the cross of Jesus that we are made whole. One Stephen Minister gives this testimony: People sometimes ask me, “What is Stephen Ministry all about?” Here’s how I often answer that question: “Stephen Ministry is about bringing Christ’s healing love to those who are hurting.”
