Reverend Jim Todd, Senior Pastor
Jim is a native of eastern Pennsylvania, but was raised in McLean, VA, a suburb of Washington, DC, where he was active at Trinity UMC. He attended Grove City College in the late 1970’s, where he met his future wife, Karen. They were married just after graduation in 1979 and moved to Philadelphia, where Jim attended Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary (Now Palmer Seminary). His appointments prior to East Stroudsburg UMC are Media: First (associate), Penns Park, Lafayette Hill: Messiah, Solebury (all in suburban Philadelphia), and District Superintendent for eight years in the Southwest District (Lancaster and parts of Lebanon Counties). He has been in full-time ministry for 32 years. Jim has received specialized training in church leadership development, church business administration, transitional interim ministry, and conflict resolution. Karen worked previously as Children’s Ministry Coordinator at Ephrata: First UMC on the Southwest District. Karen and Jim have two daughters, Lauren, 29, an artist, grad student, and food coop worker in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, and Kristin, 24, a first grade teacher in Colorado Springs, CO. Karen and Jim enjoy camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, and cross country skiing, and Jim enjoys downhill skiing and sailing as well.
Scott Kuhnle, Youth Director
Scott was raised in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, went to college at Palm Beach Atlantic University, and graduated with a degree in Biblical Studies and Youth Ministry. At ESUMC, he is responsible for all Youth Ministry programs and activities, including the JAM Jr. High Afterschool Program, weekly Bible studies, outreach events, mission trips, and retreats.
Bethany Mills, Director of Congregational Care, Discipleship, Evangelism and Community Outreach

Working as a liaison between the Church and Staff, Bethany oversees all of the Congregational and Community focused Ministries of ESUMC. As Director of Congregational Care, Discipleship, Evangelism and Community Outreach, Bethany serves as a point person for those looking to get connected and plugged into our Church ministries and small groups. Bethany additionally coordinates the Care Team, the Lay-led Hospital Visitation Program, ESUMC’s Shut-in Holy Communion distribution, and participates in Stephen Ministry. As a Pastor’s daughter, she has lived in various cities throughout New York State, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Virginia. While in VA, Bethany studied The Arts (Studio Art, Photography & Graphic Design) at Liberty University, where she graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor’s of Science: Fine Arts. Bethany, is an enthusiast for Christ, Community, adventure and the Arts, social networking, and all things Home and Garden. During her few years in Reading, PA, Bethany was a Member of West Lawn UMC and co-lead their Young Adult Ministry. Recently relocating to marry the love of her life, Bethany, her husband, Aric, and their dog, Wesley, now reside in the Poconos.

Erica Dorsch is the Director of Children’s Ministry at East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church. Erica’s responsibilities are to provide leadership and to help facilitate the children’s ministry at the church. Erica Dorsch has been a life-long member of ESUMC. After high school she attended Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, NC where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education (K-6), Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education (K-12), and Reading Education (K-12). Erica is married to Joe and they have three children.

Pauline Fox – Organist/Director of Music and Worship
Pauline Fox is Director of Traditional Music and organist/pianist for the 8:30 service, and collaborates as needed for other occasions. She also organizes the annual concert series featuring the fine organ at this church. Her spiritual passions are teaching and prayer. After a B.Mus. in Piano at Houghton College, her doctoral studies at New York University focused on historical- and ethno-musicology. As an Associate of the American Guild of Organists, she has been an active teacher and performer locally and in the Lehigh Valley.
Doug Malefyt, Director of Contemporary Music
Julie Montes De Oca, Choir Director
Julie Montes De Oca is the Choir Director for the 8:30 service, and collaborates as needed for other occasions. She is a graduate of Moravian College and received her Bachelors of Music. Originally, she began her focus on the clarinet, but switched to a concentration on voice after her freshman year. Born and raised in Allentown, PA, Julie currently resides in Emmaus.
Chris Perfetti, Bell Director
Chris Perfetti, Bell Director. Chris took on the responsibility, of directing bells, because there was a need. She has played hand bells for over 20 years. Chris enjoys the fellowship and the challenge that ringing can bring. ESUMC is very fortunate to have handbells. They bring a different sound to worship. ESUMC has a Chime choir, which is beginner level, a Youth or Intermediate Choir, and Adult Bells-a more experienced group. Chris has two daughters, college and high school age.
Joseph Dorsch, Director of Audio and Visual Services
Born and raised in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Joseph now resides in Bangor Pennslyvania. He currently is employed at Urology Associates of the Poconos.
He graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne in 2001, Cum Laude with a Music Performance Degree in saxophone. During his studies at Lenoir-Rhyne, he won the Helen M. Stahler Award for Music Excellence, Hickory Music Society Scholarship, and gave an honors presentation on his composition, “Music Inspired by the play Darkside.”
Today he is currently enrolled at East Stroudsburg University as a Graduate student in Instructional Technology, and is projected to complete the program by Spring 2017.
A published and commissioned composer, his works can be found for purchase at Dorn Publications. Recently he composed incidental music for the Playmakers’ performance of “Searching for Eden.” He has written compositions for the Lenoir Saxophone Ensemble, multi-woodwind performer Jay Easton, pianist John Cheek, baritone saxophonist Brad Hubbard’s Diametric Ensemble, jazz saxophonist Dale Fielder (Clarion Jazz), contrabassoonist Susan Nigro, and numerous churches in the area.
