A Spiritual Life Retreat for the entire ESUMC family!

Saturday, March 10th, 2018 at Pocono Plateau

The entire church family is invited to set aside Saturday, March 10, 2018 for a day of spiritual refreshment, worship and Church fellowship at Pocono Plateau Camp & Retreat Center! Programming planned for adults, youth, and children of all ages are welcome. Professional, certified childcare provided. All facilities handicap accessible.



David Burke has over 30 years of ministry experience serving churches in Maryland, Indiana, Florida, Pennsylvania and completed serving for 11 summers as the Youth Minister for the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association. David is a licensed local pastor of the Peninsula-Delaware Conference and has completed numerous theology and ministry courses at the Duke Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina.
David and his wife, Kathryn have been married for 28 years and have 3 adult children. Burke’s reputation for public speaking and relational ministry has always been regarded as relevant, never boring, and seasoned with a humorous yet challenging biblical message.

David travels and speaks to all ages with relevance and passion. His ministry highlights include various Christian music festivals such as Creation East in PA, Creation West in WA, the Ichthus Festival in KY, Alive in Ohio, Kingdom Bound in NY and Lifefest in Wisconsin. Additional national speaking engagements include the Youth Specialties National Youth Workers Convention, numerous cities, the Group Magazine Tour, numerous cities, plus numerous events in over 40 states and several countries.

David’s academic background includes a doctoral degree in Education, a Master’s Degree in Business Management and an undergrad degree in History and English. Currently, Burke serves as the Assistant Professor of Human Resources Management at Cabrini University in Radnor, PA. In addition, David teaches Leadership Classes in the School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Delaware in Newark, DE.

Scott Smith serves as the Co-coordinator of Interns and Partnerships for The Philadelphia Project. He recruits summer staff and provides pastoral care for them. He also connects with youth pastors, college campus ministries and other ministry leaders. Scott will be leading the retreat sessions for our youth.

In January 2012 Scott moved across the state of Pennsylvania at The Philadelphia Project as the Co-Coordinator of Interns and Partnerships. His role is to help recruit our summer intern staff and provide pastoral care for them throughout their twelve-week internship in the summer. As our Partnership Coordinator, he connects with local youth pastors, college campus ministers and other ministry leaders who have already come to serve with us at TPP in some capacity. It is his responsibility to continue those relationships throughout the year and find avenues for us to develop deeper partnerships in the future. Scott got married in August 2014 to his wife, Darlene, who also serves on staff with TPP.


For young children attending with their families we’ve also prepared interactive Bible lessons, crafts and a variety of games and fun! Register now to help our Children’s Ministry Team plan accordingly for the number of Children attending!

Register online or in the Church Fellowship Hall after services on Sunday mornings! A deposit of $30 is required at time of registration. Registration and payment cutoff is Wednesday, February 28th, 2018. Please make all checks payable to ESUMC with “Spiritual Life Retreat” written on the memo line.

• From ESUMC, head North on South Courtland Street toward Henry Street
• At the Route 447 intersection, turn left onto 447 N
• Continue on Route 447 for 2.0 miles, merging onto Route 191 N
• Follow Route 191 N for 7.8 miles.
• Turn right with Route 191 N (at the Crescent Lodge), and continue for 3.5 miles.
• Bear to the left near Village of Mountainhome and continue on Route 191 N for 5 miles.
• At the Pocono Plateau entrance sign, turn right onto Pocono Plateau Road. The Pocono Plateau Office is up one mile on the right.
